"COAS 7th International Women's Football Tournament 2076" kicked off at Nepali Army (NA) Football Ground on December 15, 2019. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Purna Chandra Thapa inaugurated the tournament amid a special programme.
The international level football competition organized by Nepali Army, in co-operation with All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), includes three departmental teams, three provincial teams and two international visiting teams; one each from Bhutan and India. The participating teams are Tribhuvan Army Club women's football team, Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) women's football team, Nepal Police Club (NPC) women's football team, Province No. 1 women's football team, Province No. 2 women's football team, Province No. 5 women's football team, Sikkim Women's football team (India) and Bhutan women's football team. The knock-out football competition will conclude on December 25, 2019.
In the opening match of the tournament held at NA Football Ground, Tribhuvan Army Club women's football team defeated the Province No. 1 women's football team by 9-0. Sharmila Thapa Magar of Tribhuvan Club Army women's football team was judged the Women of the Match.
Former Chief of the Army Staffs of NA, Vice-President of the National Sports Council, President of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), general officers of the Nepali Army, high ranking officials of Nepal Police & National Investigation Department (NID), officials from ANFA and the media personnel along with enthusiastic spectators witnessed the opening game of the football tournament.
