Staff Training Event (STE) is the multinational exercise in which officers of the participating countries are involved to share the knowledge about the staff duties during the peacekeeping missions.

Objectives

  1. Improve multinational readiness and coordination in a UN Force HQ operational-level Environment.
  2. Develop headquarters staff skills in preparation for PKO HQ deployment. Address UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) concerns regarding staff officer skills.
  3. Improve capabilities in operations, logistics, planning and UN Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC).
  4. Train 16 Nepalese instructors to conduct STE type Staff Training.

Training Branches
Staffs of following four branches of a UN Force HQ will be exercised in the STAFFEX.

    • Plans
    • Operations
    • Logistics
    • UN CIMIC

    Staff Rotation 1 - 4: Participants are broken up into eight syndicates of 12-13 staffs to conduct operational level planning in each of the 4 staff lanes. Each lane consists of 2 days of solving vignette based situations as a multinational operational level headquarters staff.

    The totals of 119 officers from 26 countries are participating in STE.

      STE will be held at BPOTC, Panchkhal.
