Nepal-China Joint Military Training Concludes

The Nepal-China special forces joint training 'Sagarmatha Friendship-2017', a joint tactical level training between the Chinese People's Liberation Army (CPLA) and Nepalese Army (NA) concluded at Nepalese Army Special Forces Brigade Headquarter, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on April 25, 2017. Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Baldevraj Mahat graced the closing ceremony as the chef guest.

Delivering the closing remarks, CGS Lt Gen Mahat extended his congratulations to all the participants for successfully completing 10-day joint group training and for demonstrating terrific enthusiasm, willingness, determination and a high standard of motivation during the training. He showed his confidence that these kinds of joint group training will be highly beneficial when the troops of two nations will operate jointly in future at regional or international arena. He also extended his appreciation, on behalf of the government of Nepal and NA, to the government of China and the Chinese Army for showing keen interest in an Endeavour to further develop the military relations.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief of the observer group of CPLA Maj Gen Zhang Jiangang said that the joint training is a realistic move to extend cooperation in defense and security and enhance mil-to-mil communication at all level. He further added that CPLA is willing to work with NA to grasp the opportunity of the booming development of bilateral ties to enhance communication at all levels, extending cooperation in personnel training, equipment & technology, and disaster relief.

Earlier before the closing ceremony, various demonstrations on Hostage Rescue, Bus Break In, Sniper Firing and House Clearing Drill were performed by the participants from both the countries. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Gen Rajendra Chhetri and HE Ambassador of China to Nepal Yu Hong observed the demonstration.

General Officers of NA, defense Attaché of China, officers of NA, instructors and participants from both the countries among others were present during the opening ceremony.
