"COAS 5th International Women's Football Tournament" Kicks Off

"COAS Fifth International Women's Football Tournament" kicked off at Nepali Army (NA) Football Ground on November 17, 2017. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri inaugurated the tournament amid a special programme.

The international level football competition organized by Nepali Army includes three departmental teams, five regional teams and two visiting team from India. The participating teams are Tribhuvan Army Club women's football team, Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) women's football team, Nepal Police Club (NPC) women's football team, Eastern region women's football team, Mid-Western region women's football team, Western region women's football team, Central region women's football team, Far Western region women's football team, Sikkim Women's football team (India) and Bihar women's football team (India). The knock-out football competition will conclude on November 23, 2017.

In the opening match of the tournament held at NA Football Ground, Tribhuvan Army CLubwomen's football team defeated the Western region women's football team by 12-0. Krishna Khatri of Tribhuvan Club Army women's football team, who scored seven goals on her own, was judged the player of the match after the game. In the second match of the day played at Army Physical Fitness and Training Centre, Lagankhel Nepal Police Club women's football team thrashed the Mid region women's football team by the same 12-0 margin. Nirmala B.K. of NPC women's football team was selected the player of the match in the second game.

Secretary of Ministry of Defense, former Chief of the Army Staffs of NA, general officers of Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, officials from ANFA, media personnel along with enthusiastic spectators witnessed the opening ceremony and opening game of the football tournament.
