COAS Gen Chhetri returns from his visit to USA and UK

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rajendra Chhetri returned home from his official visit to United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA), on July 16, 2017. On June 30, 2017, COAS Gen Chhetri had departed for USA to attend the second 'Chiefs of Defense Conference' of Troops Contributing Countries (TCC) organized at United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA. After the conference, COAS Gen Chhetri visited United Kingdom upon an official invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of British Army Gen Sir Nicholas Patrick.

Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen Baldev Raj Mahat welcomed him at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Upon his arrival COAS Gen Chhetri was accorded a Guard of Honor from a squad of Nepalese Army at TIA. General officers of the NA and defense attachés of various nations in Nepal were present at the occasion.

During his stay in New York, COAS Gen Chhetri met Under Secretary General of Directorate of Peace Keeping Operation and Military Adviser of United Nationals Secretary-General separately. Likewise, he also had separate meetings with Force Commanders of United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission In The Dr Congo (Monusco) and The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

During his official visit to UK, on July 10, 2017 COAS Gen Chhetri paid a courtesy call on Honourable Defence Minister of UK and had meeting with chief of Defence Staff. Similarly, continuing his visit, COAS Gen Chhetri met Chief of the General Staff of British Army Gen Nicholas Patrick Carter on July 11, 2017. COAS gen Chhetri also visited the British Army Headquarters and various regional commands of British Army.
