Right Honourable President Bidhya Devi Bhadari visited Birendra Peace Operations Training Centre (BPOTC), Panchkhal on November 29, 2016. During the visit, Rt. Hon. President inspected the Pre - Deployment Training of the Repumardan Battalion (UNMISS 7th Battalion) and Special Guard Unit (UNSMIL 1st Battalion). The Repumardan Battalion is scheduled to be deployed in United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Special Guard Unit is scheduled to be deployed in United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
Addressing the troops, RT. Hon. President wished the troops for the successful completion of the mission and applauded the determination and dedication of the Nepalese Army in maintaining international peace and stability in various conflict ridden countries across the globe. She also believed that the peace troopers would exhibit their professionalism in respecting and promoting the democratic norms and values.
Speaking at the programme, Honourable Defence Minister Balkrishna Khand expressed that Nepalese Army has played a key role for the recognition of Nepal in the international arena and also believed that the Nepalese peacekeepers will make every effort to uplift the image of Nepal and the Nepalese Army in the mission area.
Earlier, the Rt. Hon. President observed the demonstration and exercise presented by the troops of Repumarda Battalion and Special Guard Unit. The commandant of BPOTC briefed the president about the training center.
COAS General Rajendra Chhetri, officials of the Office of the President, Acting defence Secretary, general officers, officers and other ranks of the Nepalese Army and media personnel were present during the programme.
